A Man of His Words: George Lakoff, Or how dumb is a Democrat

"Elephants are large, have floppy ears and a trunk, are associated with circuses, and so on. The word is defined relative to that frame. When we negate a frame, we evoke the frame."

What's AMAZING is that somehow people don't read this shit and just KNOW it! Damn. gmb
The GOP has totally framed the issues, spun the web. To fly into the web, then struggle against it... ah, just doesn't look noble. But see them, see Kerry, fly into the sticky strands.... I mean, it's not like its a secret! It's in a book, it's in the bookstores for heaven's sake!

Alas, Democrats want to keep their jobs. That appears to be true for Kerry, Daschle, et al.
Kerry remains the anti-Bush.
When a man adjusts his strategy and actions with gaining of new information, it is called learning. If you want a man who just refuses to learn, well, we've got him.
Bush is NOT making mistakes: he is executing his policy and Americans have not the power or the interest to disagree. It's more like "shhhhh! my favorite tv sitcom is on!"
All Americans must know that the fault is not with our stars or our president. Pogo said it: "We have met the enemy, and they is us."
Somebody else said "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Great article. Seems we need to start reframing the debate. Defeat of Bush is not enough; we will only get another if the debate is not reframed. How about tax justice instead of tax relief? How about bold and innovative forward looking action instead of old, ineffective, and fearful hesitation to make the needed changes. The ship of state needs to take a new direction, and the present captain ain’t even on the bridge.

"Fiscal patriotism" - That's beautiful! Perfect. I’m going to start using that one.
