Seems silly: cut a head off and everybody gets weird.
Civilized people shouldn't watch. Civilized people wouldn't.
Ultimately it matters little (actually, not at all) to the person who is killed. It seems to matter a whole lot to the survivors.
I don't think there is anything silly about chopping off someone's head. These are real people being murdered. The 2nd American beheaded this week was the neighbor of a friend's sister. He took the job in Iraq because he couldn't find work as an engineer in his local job market. Could be your or me.
People want to watch because they just CANNOT believe it is true, until they see it for themselves. It matters a lot to a lot of people, especially those directly affected. Any father, son, daughter, mother, relative, friend, or neighbor is going to be upset when someone they care about or even just know gets murdered in a terrorist media event.
