I must be missing something. Interesting, but it would not have occurred to me, but it does illustrate the power of words and music: it has been very effectively used in politics. "My country is all I know"? Actually, I'm a constitutionalist. I like regulated capitalism. I like a socially and environmentally active government. Certainly love Washington and Jefferson, Lincoln, TR, FDR, JFK. "Patriotism" is the projection of any number of primal emotions. However, the 2 party winner take all system? needs some serious looking at. It has become embedded, and it is NOT in our constitution in any way shape or form, and there are some reservations about it American history. Something we are going to have to deal with.
