In a break with tradition, The Tampa Tribune, a Republican standard-bearer for decades, refused Sunday to endorse anyone for president for the first time since 1964.
The Tribune became the second GOP-oriented daily to balk at endorsing the Republican incumbent. The Winston Salem Journal also refused to endorse either candidate.

A great opportunity is passing in this country: for at least one paper to stand up, and put up a front page headline, something that says Bush is a monster, Bush is wrong, Bush is unAmerican.
Bush won't admit a mistake but, goddammit, WE should! We made a mistake. We elected Bush. May god accept our sincere apologies, may we earn his forgiveness, may we strive to earn the forgiveness of the people on our planet, may we again seek the honor our country was bound toward.
