Stand and Fight

One thing we can say for certain at this point, after the grieving, the anger, is that the country is still bitterly divided.

Black/White.

Tell us. What are these things? Let's talk.

OK, more gloating for a narrow win, so what are these things "we don't see"?

BTW, if your gloating is a version of Bush's plan to unite us, it needs some work.

Actually 3 million vote is a small margin. Bush beat Kerry by 3%. Hardly a resounding mandate for a sitting president. Clinton beat Dole by 8.2 million (9%) out of far fewer votes. And why is it that when you mention that gloating is not exactly unifying that Republicans respond with some version of "And since when have the Dems ever tried to unite the country?" OK, so either you ARE lying through your teeth about trying to be unifying or you suck at it, which is it?

"Bush tried the first time to unite the congress and what did it get him? He reached out to Sen Kennedy and the Senator called him every vile name he could think of."

Citation for this accusation would be in order.

Gee, as I recall, Bush sucker punched Kennedy on the no child left behind act that he underfunded. And then there was the medical reform bill that went 30% over projections BEFORE the votes were cast: the administration hid the figures. And then there was the Saddam is a threat and the world is better off. For the first time, even the Iraqis are having some problem with that. Really: if this is what freedom looks like, ummm, could I please have a dictator? A good one would be much better than a bad one.
I challenge anyone on the planet to actually put anything at all behind that statement "Bush reached out..." Toothfairy and "compassionate conservative" along with "axis of evil"... that was made up for the speech :-) amazing. Policy from the writer.
Bush got more votes and he won and I have no doubt that they corrected the mistakes they made in Florida, but no matter: they really had more votes.
Those votes came for "no gay marriage", "no choice", and from a population that is, frankly, scared. Like that fat lady in BC that beats the snot out of that poor snake whenever she sees it.
Best speech: Bin Laden: our fate is in our hands.
