Consider this thoughtful mans words...

"The long-term effect of US culture as it spreads to every nook and cranny in every desert and every mountain valley will be the end of mankind. Our extraordinary greed for material possessions, the ways we go about nurturing that greed, the lack of balance in our lives, and our cultural arrogance will kill us off within a century unless we learn to stop and think. It may be too late."
Wilfred Thesiger

That is some heavy shit!
Now, think: if such were true, and there is some truth to much, wouldn't it be reasonable to fight to the death too contain such a culture, to maintain another culture, other cultures, separate and protect them?

He mentions "cultural arrogance". It strikes me that this man's words are a good example of this arrogance - to think the US has any better chance of destroying mankind than others. The guy is depressed.

I think the guy is nuts.

well, I don't think he considered Luxembourg, an oversight if one is going to consider great powers influences. Belieze, Paraguay, and Tasmania come to mind, too.
As to whether the guy is "nuts"...ummm, of course there is more to him than that simple phrase.
I recall from an old science fiction comic book, some guys sending a metal ball back in time, and then seeing if there were any consequences. There were, but they couldn't be seen (except by us wise comic book readers) who could see the change, being outside it.
I'm certain we are not creationists, but we do solidly believe that we are not part of evolution, certainly cannot consider other than our future is guaranteed. Or the planets.
