Activist Judges Rule!
"Judge Richard Kramer of San Francisco County's trial-level Superior Court likened the (gay marriage) ban to laws requiring racial segregation in schools, and said there appears to be 'no rational purpose' for denying marriage to gay couples."

ummm, no "rational" purpose? For those who hold it to be a moral issue, that says that morality is not rational and hence should be ignored.
No, I can't say that was a good judicial reading.
A good one would be due process and equal protection and that if marriage is a sacred bond, then the government IS into church matters and has to immediately stop: the government can only provide for the contractual, civil aspect of the union. The sacred part is up to the church. Or not. But nothing the government does is sacred, in the sense that it can act for God on earth: religious organizations bestow that on their willing congregations.
But government has not really intruded into religion: religion has wantonly invited the powers of the government, thinking it to their advantage. And it's still going the wrong way: federal support for faith based initiatives is dead wrong.
